Position Overview:

The Cafe Manager is someone who possesses a high sense of responsibility, integrity, ethics, and passion to serve others. The Cafe Manager fosters a positive workplace for both staff and customers while successfully managing the day to day operations of a successful cafe . The Cafe Manager must be an experienced leader with the ability to inspire peers, communicate effectively with others, delegate responsibility, and ensure accountability. You’ll work alongside management to define and execute the business strategy and financial targets for the cafe. You must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and effectively work under pressure.  In this role, you will hire, train, coach, and develop a team of baristas who provide exceptional customer service and a quality coffee experience through the virtues of hospitality.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Customer Service: Provide and foster an elevated experience for our customers through the virtues of hospitality. Ensure customer needs are met, service is quick and efficient, and high quality service is provided.
  • Team Support: Provide support to the team positions during peak hours or when scheduling conflicts arise.
  • Scheduling: Manage daily scheduling and time off for all shop associates within the parameters of a labor budget.
  • Training: Oversee and delegate training of new team members and lead baristas.  Coach employees and cultivate a team-oriented work environment that aligns with Moniker’s core values.
  • 1on1’s: Conduct weekly 1on1’s with your leadership team to foster rhythms of communication, orientation of priorities, and action items. Conduct and delegate monthly 1on1’s with part-time staff to foster rhythms of communication, orientation of priorities, and action items.
  • Inventory & Ordering: Manage, track, and order inventory within the parameters of a budget to ensure that the shop is sufficiently  stocked on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Innovation: Create and implement strategies to improve customer service, increase sales, and drive profitability.
  • Store Cleanliness & Presentation: Maintain the coffee shop cleanliness, presentation, and  appearance to Moniker and Food & Safety standards.
  • Maintain Food Safety & Shop Safety: Ensure all shop procedures, health standards and safety standards are adhered to by the staff.  Solve potential safety hazards, documenting accidents and conducting investigations. 

Weekly Responsibilities:

  • 40hr work week: Minimum of 3 Shifts a week behind bar,  2 days of in person admin/office days
  • Oversee Scheduling
  • Interviewing and Hiring Staff
  • Manage and Oversee Staff Training
  • Weekly Ordering & Inventory Counts
  • Conduct 1on1’s with AM & Leads
  • Attend Weekly Coffee L10 Meeting
  • Responsible for weekly data reports for: sales, COGs, labor, and other expenses

Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Attend the All Hands Meetings
  • Monthly Audit of store Profit and Loss
  • Monthly and Quarterly data & financial reports
  • Training and mentoring staff to promote growth within the team
  • Oversee staff disciplinary action as needed
  • Casting vision/goals for the shop 
  • Conduct Quarterly Team Meetings
  • Facilitate relationships with vendors and other shops to bring in new offerings

Qualifications:

  • Innovative, proactive and entrepreneurial.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of Management experience and/or industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent people manager with experience leading and motivating high performing teams.
  • Equally as results-driven as you are people-driven.
  • Strong customer management skills and passion for quality.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Quick learner and able to adapt to changes easily. Able to multi-task and problem solve.
  • Experience with tracking budget expenses, pricing, vendor relationships, and inventory management.

Work Requirements:

  • Long hours - early mornings, nights and weekends required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and frequently bend and twist at the waist.
  • Frequent standing and use of hands and arms.
  • Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages and work with sharp objects.
